We were picked up on time and arrived at Caminito del Rey no problem. Once we got there however, we were given no instructions on where to go. The bus driver seemed confused as well. She finally walked us toward the 1.5km we needed to walk to get to the entrance. Once we got there it was another mass confusion with all different tour groups waiting to get in. We were then herded like cattle through the caminito del Rey hike as there were many groups waiting their turn since it had rained earlier. The hike was great, but more organization is needed to know where to go when you get there
I would recommend a visit to Caminito del Rey to anyone as long as they don’t really struggle with heights. I’m not great with heights myself but the walkway feels safe and secure. I took my two teenage sons who also enjoyed it and our guide Paul engages them and gave us lots of additional information about the history, fauna, and flora. It was a small group and we felt well looked after. The gorge itself as phenomenal and it’s a unique way to experience such an awesome natural phenomenon.
We enjoyed our tour with Rachel. She provided a lot of fascinating historical information on the Caminato del Rey as well as really informative information what we saw, from the technical side of the hydroelectric development project to the local geology that had led to the right local conditions, and including the local fauna, flora and sparse population. Thank you for a well led tour, a really enjoyable morning! Un très grand merci pour une très belle visite du Caminato del Rey.
The bus picked us up in Malaga. After a small breakfast we started the walking (a bit later then expected, because of the the long queues). Once you enter the route, you walk on our own, no guide. You already got some info in the bus and it’s very relaxing to be able to walk at your own pace. The bus trip back was quick (maybe because of the nap :) ) and we arrived back in Malaga by 14:45
Information about where to meet was not clear so at least a third of our party went to wrong meeting point. We were asked to meet half hour before tour start which was at 9,30am. Tour didnt get underway until just after 11.00am - lots of waiting around. Not brilliant as we had travelled a distance (nearly two hours) to get there.
