Pick up 2am. Return 8pm. The drive was uncomfortable too many in the mini van plus the AC was inefficient. Egyptologist courier was friendly and knowledgeable but in too much of a hurry in the museum. 15-20 minutes 'free' time after her wizz around tour was not enough. At the pyramids and sphinx, which are mind blowing amazing when viewed for the first time but again we were hurried from one to the other. eg: We stopped in a car park to the left of the Sphinx and being in a wheelchair plus using a stick for support I struggled but managed the few steps to the viewing platform. We were rushed so I didn't have time to see the Sphinx front-on. A bomb went off close by about 400mtrs from us and no one took any notice. For the price of the trip, around £50 per person, 'Get Your Guide'/'Egyptia Travel' provide a good service. For comfort there are plenty of more expensive options available. With the museum & optional boat trip on the Nile the overall trip was an unforgettable experience.
We had a really great tour. We were picked up in Safaga at 1 am and arrived in Cairo at around 10.00 am. It was a long travel but everything was smooth running and on schedule. Then we met our English guide outside the museum . She was great. Forgot her name though but we are group “Horus” (July 4,2019). She gave us a lot of information (historical facts) during the museum tour. Then afterwards we went to a tour in the Nile river for about 30-45 mins (paid 10 euros extra) but it was worth it. Then we had lunch in Giza overlooking the pyramids. Afterwards, pyramids tour. We went camel riding (10 euros pp) but with an official camel guy. It was an unforgettable experience...plus the camel guy took great photos and videos of us. Afterwards, we went inside the pyramid! Yes bucket list checked! Then lastly we went to the perfumerie and we got good deals with oils. It was legit! Then we head back to Safaga...
up at 03:00. Back at the hotel at 00:30. longest day of my life but the pyramids were fantastic. I don't want to go to the papyrus shop or a perfumery. and this all added to the length of the day. we also spent nearly 3 hours in the airport waiting for our flight. The guide was very good (even if I don't believe that they were tombs). But with a bit more planning and a bit less crap shops that NONE of us wanted to go to this day could have been amazing. It still was great but slightly tainted but being ferried in to shops.
Good organisation. Early call in the morning so travel is comfortable at night. Two drivers were excellent. In Cairo the guide awaits you there. The National Museum is great but very busy. Stay close to the group and hope you don't get two ladies who wanted to take pictures of everything thus eating up our time. Lunch was good as well. The Pyramids are spectacular. Beware of the heat though. The trip on the river Nile is not to be missed. Return journey good to, although a bigger bus could make things more comfortable.
It's a long day but that is the nature of the trip. Felt a bit rushed and would have liked more time at the Pyramids but this was due to people being late at every stop. Apart from that i have ticked off numerous things from my bucket list. The Pyramids being the highlight. The tour guide was excellent and extremely helpful throughout. I would reccomend this trip as it is excellent value for money.
