Full description
This full-day excursion to Connemara and Cong takes you to see the hidden Ireland that’s off the main tourist route. This is a magical day spent in typical Irish countryside. See the region come to life with stories from the past and its many legends - from killer sheep to lake monsters! The first stop is at Ross Errily Friary. This hidden 14th-century monastery is located just outside the village of Cong. You’ll have time to explore Cong Woods and see Ashford Castle, or just stroll through the town that was the setting for the 1950s classic film “The Quiet Man”. As you enter Connemara, you’ll see Lough Nafooey, known as Ireland’s most haunted lake. You’ll note the stark beauty of Connemara as you continue on your route, arriving at Killary Fjord in Leenane. Those staying in hostels can opt to hop off at Sleepzone Connemara - just let the tour operator know in advance! Head back inland and drive to Kylemore Abbey, where you'll have a break for lunch and sightseeing. No amount of words can describe how we enjoyed the day trip we had plus the 3 lovely gents were so entertaining and very very accommodating. No pressure just pure fun and laughter! Good craic plus the driver has a very good sense of humour. We were smiling the whole day, we were not rushed in all of our activities, they even offer to take photo of us as well which we appreciate so much. We will forever cherish this short yet very fun experience in Galway & Co. Mayo. Huge thanks to you gentlemen!

First of all a HUGE thank you to Ken, our bus driver! He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned loads about Irish history that we did not know before. We got lucky with the weather and it was all absolutely gorgeous, totally worth seeing. There was enough time to see everything, there was really gorgeous stops along the way. In my opinion, its completely worth it. The only thing is that the stop in Cong was a little too short, however we plan on returning one day and staying in that charming village:)
