What people are saying about Fort Myers
I brought my in-laws on this trip to the Everglades. They have been wintering in Florida for 10 years, but this was their first tour of the Everglades. They enjoyed the outside parts. So did my wife and I. The bus seemed cramped for the 13 tourists. We loved the two boat rides and the extra stop at one of the thousand islands. Randi the tour guide was very informative. She had tons of history and background information. Funny too. We were too far in the back of the bus to stay connected. The outside parts were very good...nature walk and boat rides. Even waiting at the flat bottom wind boats was informative as there is a menagerie of reptiles in cages for up-close inspection. Fun. Lunch was good.
We had a truly wonderful day exploring the Everglades with Randi as our amazing guide. It was more than we had hoped for. In fact it was brill, as we got to see manatees which was the highlight for many of us. The variety of wildlife and habitats we saw was incredible and our four strapping teenagers all thoroughly enjoyed the day, despite the early morning call! Randi needs a special mention. Quite simply, she was an amazing guide, knowledgable, informative and shared stories with us, making the long journeys feel shorter than they really were. We all came away from the day with very special memories as well as some beautiful photographs.
We were impressed with our guide's knowledge of wildlife, geology, hydrology, history of European / American / Native American interactions and the early and late development of the Everglades area. She had a sympathetic understanding of the imagination and ignorance of Florida's developers from colonial times onward to the present, the challenges they faced and those they left to the present generation. I only wish I had a map of the routes we followed that I might retell our story better.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and were immersed in observation of birds, gators, sharks, gators, snakes and gators. There was a very nicely catered lunch at a great venue which everyone enjoyed. Our tour guide (Pete) was an expert naturalist and also kept the tempo of the tour at a good level from 7:30 AM until we returned around 5 PM. Overall I highly recommend this tour as it is money well spent to give you first hand experience of this incredible region!
We had an amazing trip, dolphins swimming alongside the boat, beautiful beaches and a couple of great stop offs collecting shells and hearing about the area from the captain, what an absolutely lovely guy, I would highly recommend this trip, if you are looking to see dolphins, birds and amazing views, and are keen to know more about the area, definitely book this trip.
