Find the Best Place to See the Eiffel Tower

A glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, outlined romantically against the Paris skyline — that's what you remember after visiting France. If you're looking to photograph Paris to your heart's content, use our short list of great spots in the city to get that breathtaking view (and picture).

Trocadero

To see the Eiffel Tower light show at night, the Trocadero is one of your best location choices. Bonus: the Trocadero is free, and always open.

Arc de Triomphe

You need to climb the 284 steps of the Arc de Triomphe to reach the top of this other famous Paris monument, where you’ll be rewarded by one of the most spectacular views in the city.

Montparnasse

This 689-foot skyscraper may not be a beautiful building, but the views are worth it. In the Montparnasse Tower you get the second highest view after the Eiffel Tower and 360-degree vistas.

From the Hotel Raphael

Looking for a romantic Paris date spot? Make a reservation for the terrace at this luxury hotel. Soak in the view, enjoy some champagne, and watch the sunset from the top.

Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Pont de Bir-Hakeim connects the 15th and 16th arrondissements. This famous bridge offers stunning views of the tower and the Seine—a popular spot for photographers.

Eiffel Tower: Our Tips

Avoiding the queues

As you know, Paris is quite the popular holiday destination. Plan ahead if you want to jump around and see the Eiffel Tower from lots of angles. It's easy to buy tickets online and go straight to the top -- but if you're looking to do Paris on the cheap, remember to plan waiting time at major monuments into your itinerary.

Watch your stuff

Lots of travelers are looking for a cafe or restaurant nearby these views, where they can relax and regroup away from the crowds. While all the major tourist areas are safe enough, tourists tend to let their guard down as soon as they order a café au lait. As always, zip up your purse and watch out for thieves.

Eiffel tower opening hours

If you decide to get up close and personal with the Tower itself, it's conveniently open 365 days a year. From mid-June to early September, opening hours are from 9:00AM to midnight. During the rest of the year, from 9:30AM to 11:00PM.

What People Are Saying About Eiffel Tower

Loved the Eiffel Tower and cruise on the Seine.

This ticket was not what we originally wanted but was the only one still available to purchase for the time we were in Paris. Buyers need to purchase well ahead of time. We loved the Eiffel Tower and witnessed first hand the advantage of holding a skip the line ticket. We loved the Seine cruise but did not get to the Louvre not that day or any other but were pleased to see the ticket was good for one year.

This was the best and most organized of the GYG tours we took.

Thanks to our excellent guide Alex! He was very knowledgable & funny. He also explained how to use the Cruise & Louvre tickets. This was the best GYG package we purchased during our trip this summer to Paris & Rome. Allow yourself some extra time to find the GYG check in office.

We loved Phillipe, who was helpful, informative and very funny.

This tour takes you backstage, below and above stage as well. Our "guide" actor Phillipe was delightful. Any time your guide shows up pretending he is an airplane you know it is going to be good!

Enjoyed the experience despite a couple of problems.

Our guide did her best but unfortunately, because of the numbers, was unable to identify with her group. A pole or some other form of identification would have really helped her when there was a large number of people around her. Also, a microphone headpiece would have meant that we could all hear her. She did not make it clear that we could have gone higher up the tower. Perhaps we did not hear this? Also, the arranged checking in point was very disorganised. We arrived early for the tour, but were still standing around for some time.
