Find the Best Place to See the Eiffel Tower

A glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, outlined romantically against the Paris skyline — that's what you remember after visiting France. If you're looking to photograph Paris to your heart's content, use our short list of great spots in the city to get that breathtaking view (and picture).

Trocadero

To see the Eiffel Tower light show at night, the Trocadero is one of your best location choices. Bonus: the Trocadero is free, and always open.

Arc de Triomphe

You need to climb the 284 steps of the Arc de Triomphe to reach the top of this other famous Paris monument, where you’ll be rewarded by one of the most spectacular views in the city.

Montparnasse

This 689-foot skyscraper may not be a beautiful building, but the views are worth it. In the Montparnasse Tower you get the second highest view after the Eiffel Tower and 360-degree vistas.

From the Hotel Raphael

Looking for a romantic Paris date spot? Make a reservation for the terrace at this luxury hotel. Soak in the view, enjoy some champagne, and watch the sunset from the top.

Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Pont de Bir-Hakeim connects the 15th and 16th arrondissements. This famous bridge offers stunning views of the tower and the Seine—a popular spot for photographers.

Eiffel Tower: Our Tips

Avoiding the queues

As you know, Paris is quite the popular holiday destination. Plan ahead if you want to jump around and see the Eiffel Tower from lots of angles. It's easy to buy tickets online and go straight to the top -- but if you're looking to do Paris on the cheap, remember to plan waiting time at major monuments into your itinerary.

Watch your stuff

Lots of travelers are looking for a cafe or restaurant nearby these views, where they can relax and regroup away from the crowds. While all the major tourist areas are safe enough, tourists tend to let their guard down as soon as they order a café au lait. As always, zip up your purse and watch out for thieves.

Eiffel tower opening hours

If you decide to get up close and personal with the Tower itself, it's conveniently open 365 days a year. From mid-June to early September, opening hours are from 9:00AM to midnight. During the rest of the year, from 9:30AM to 11:00PM.

What People Are Saying about Eiffel Tower

An excellent experience with an excellent guide

Marine was one of the highlights of our trip. We climbed to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower with Marine at a lovely pace where she informed us of the history of the Tower. We also had several breaks so we could catch our breath back and take in the views. Highly recommend the tour, especially if ur lucky enough to get Marine.

If you only have one day in Paris.........

The tour was very good. The minivan drive throughout the city gave you a good overview of Paris and the guide's information provided you with much more that a peek out the window. The lunch at the Eiffel Tower was good and the view was spectacular. However, the highlight of the tour was our time in the Louvre. Our guide, Labeela (spelling?) had her degree in art and she was fantastic. I got more our of the our and a half in the Louvre with her than a lifetime of public school art classes. Could have spent days with her touring the galleries and listening to her explanations.

Unforgettable experience climbing up the Eiffel Tower!

Our guide Linda Shell was amazing. When we got there (we were on time) we had to wait 30-45 minutes before we could go in due to construction works. Linda kept us updated the whole time of what was going on. We almost left as we weren't sure how long the wait was going to be but luckily they let us through after passing security. Despite the wind and rain as we climbed each floor and Linda gave us fascinating background on how the Eiffel Tower was built, Gustav Eiffel himself and all the incredible details about the structure of the tower itself. There was only me and my husband and one other lady in our group so we heard everything she was saying. Linda was a fountain of knowledge and also gave us tips of other fabulous places we could go to visit during our time in Paris. Although it was a cloudy day the 1st and 2nd floors views were extraordinary. We would definitely recommend Linda as a guide as she was fabulous. Only big disappointment was not going to the summit due to works.
