Fiordland National Park: Doubtful Sound Wilderness Cruise
- Duration: 7 hours
An absolutely wonderful and magical trip. The crew and staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Courtney’s nature talks and commentaries were a highlight and not to be missed. The dinner was huge and comprehensive with numerous choices and there was a substantial cooked breakfast. The weather allowed passengers to kayak or swim under supervision or to ride in a tender. We sailed into the Tasman Sea, passing a seal colony on the way. There were glimpses of penguins and kaka too. The weather changed rapidly, so we had a mix of sun, cloud, mist and rain, allowing a range of photographic opportunities. Sunrise was special with spectacular reflections. We loved every minute of this trip and would happily do it again. Well done, team!
Colin is the best driver/tour guide I’ve travelled with. He took this experience to another level, we learnt so much about the history of Fiordland National park and it’s place in the future conservation scheme of NZ’s natural treasures, and we were well entertained with his humour. The number and velocity of the waterfalls was breathtaking and information about them was superb, the trip way above my expectation.
Amazing experience with views of layer upon layer of mountains and geographic features that are learned about but rarely seen. Excellent pilot who narrates what we see. The landing and take off are smoother than the usual planes one experiences.
Tony Andrew our guide was an outstanding communicator and very knowledgeable of the area which he relaid in a very cleaver a d humorous manner. He is an asset to Real Journeys and he definitely made the trip the magic that it was.
A wonderful day in its completeness , tickets , personal , pace , and indeed the beauty of the place . Easy 5 star day , got back to Manapouri tired , rested and excited as well ( buzzing) .
