Full description
Before the trek, your guide will meet you at your hotel for an in-depth briefing. Providing you with an opportunity to ask questions and do any last-minute shopping before leaving Cusco.
You will depart from Cusco by train, leaving from the station in Ollantaytambo. After arriving at the first checkpoint, you will have your tickets and passports checked with a Machu Picchu Park Ranger, before you will begin trekking up to the well-preserved remains of Wiñay Wayna. After lunch, you will have some time to rest and explore the site's houses, terraces, towers, as well as to visit the Inti Punku, the Inca Gate of the Sun. Here you will be able to catch the first sight of Machu Picchu. The day concludes with an overview and orientation about the city of Machu Picchu before you will be transported by shuttle bus to Aguas Caliente, where you will spend the night.

After an early breakfast, you will get picked up by your guide to go visit to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu itself and have a day filled with scenic exploring.
