Crypt of Santa Reparata: Tours & Tickets
What people are saying about Crypt of Santa Reparata
I cannot recommend this tour enough. Our guide, Thomas, was extremely friendly, approachable, and above all, knowledgeable about not only the duomo and Brunelleschi's dome, but the entire city of Florence. He gave all kinds of insights, tricks, and tips to see the best the city has to offer. I learned so much during this 1-hour tour, and I would never have known any of the stories and insights into what made Florence so great if I had just seen the dome on my own without a tour. I am telling you, I was skeptical at first of this tour, but it is completely worth the money and actually I will recommend to any of my friends visiting Florence to take this tour as well because I learned so much. The duomo and the fresco inside the dome as well as the view of the city are unmatched. Book this tour ASAP!
This was a fun experience. The guide was informative and entertaining (she had a lovely dry wit which I thoroughly enjoyed.) I was able to appreciate the experience more from her analysis of the architecture, historical context and art work because, on first entry, I was rather stunned by how underwhelming it was by comparison to other churches I have visited in Florence specially and Italy more widely. The dome, of course, was a monumental piece of art, and the climb to the terraces and the dome itself brought breath-taking views of the city. However, the price of the ticket was pretty steep given the rather brief experience!
Leonardo was a first rate guide with a number of details on the Duomo and city - such as the inside story of the Medici family. He was supportive of the groups capability on the numerous steps as well - none of us were 21 any more. I like something physical every day - apart from walking - and this tour was a great choice. Leonardo also alerted us to the Opera of the Duomo museum, a carefully curated and “uncrowded” destination just adjacent to the Duomo. We loved it.
Our tour guide, Giacomo, was fantastic. Both knowledgeable and courteous. He is an architect himself so he explained many elements of the church and the dome in great detail. Spoke loud enough for all of us to hear clearly which is usually an issue on crowded tours. Would recommend to anyone visiting Florence.
Excellent tour guide (Tomaso) kept us entertained with interesting facts about Brunelleschi's Dome, the Duomo, the birth of the Renaissance in Firenze, as well as other fun facts about Firenze, including its tradition of Calcio Fiorentino!
