Full description
Enjoy a fantastic orientation tour of Cairo on an 8-hour excursion that takes in the major monuments of Old Cairo and the maze of streets and stalls of the historic Khan El Khalili Bazaar.

Following a hotel pick-up from Cairo or Giza, you will drive up to the Saladin Citadel, constructed by Salah al-Din on the Moqattam Hills in 1183 AD as a defence against Crusader armies. Known for its fresh air and sweeping views of Cairo, it is now a preserved historic site of mosques and museums, including the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha.

Designed by the Turkish architect Yousif Boushnaq, who came to Cairo especially from Istanbul to build the great building, the mosque's alabaster structure stands in beautiful contrast to the sandstone city. Continue to the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East. Discover a maze of alleys that has been at the center of Cairo’s trading activities since the 14th century.

Then, visit Old Cairo to see major attractions such as the Hanging Church, the Ben Ezra Synagogue, the Church of St. Barbara, and the Church of Abu Serga, one of the oldest Coptic churches in Cairo.

They picked us up in our hotel on time and we headed to Salah El Din Al Citadel. We had a driver and a tour guide along with us all the way in all places. In the citadel, we could visit two different mosques and a police museum. From some sites in this citadel, we could have a great outlook on the city. We had a small delay in the beginning 'cause the guide hadn't been informed of the trip terms as tickets and lunch were included, but they could easily sort it out very quickly and the trip could go on as expected. Afterward, we headed to Coptic Cairo where we visited St Sergius, Ben Ezra Synagogue which was a Christian church that had been converted to a synagogue lest they have to pay taxes to the govern. We have also visited The Hanging Church which was constructed on the top of an old tower, in which we could see the well where the holy family had drink water from. We had a yummy lunch all you can eat in Bonne Soirée. In the end, we went to Khan El Khalili for shopping. Great tour!

We would be picked up from the hotel on time. Our guide Machmut received us at the Zidatelle, a very nice, good German speaking guide. He had a very good historical education and answered all the questions we had. On the night of the Zidatelle we drove to the old town, took a break in a cafe and talked about the history of the old town. Then we visited Khan el Khalili and the Coptic and Orthodox Church. In the end there was lunch which tasted very good. Overall, a very pleasant tour with a very experienced courage. The tour is recommended.
