Full description
Your 7-hour excursion begins with a drive from Boston to Plymouth Colony, where the original pilgrims stepped ashore after their long and grueling journey from England on the Mayflower.

Experience first-hand the life of a pilgrim in the 1600s and interact with the historical role-players who portray the residents of colonial Plymouth. Visit the Craft Center, where artisans re-create 17th-century pottery, baskets, books and furniture. Stop to see the Wampanoag Homesite, where neighbors to the pilgrims provided counsel and guidance to the settlers.

Alongside the bucolic Town Brook, see the workings of a water-powered grist mill, built by the pilgrims in 1636. Learn about ecology and the annual herring run. Visit the exhibit gallery where you can try some hands-on grinding of corn. Before leaving, stop at the gift shop where you can buy freshly ground organic cornmeal and other items.

Take a walk from the mill through beautiful Brewster Gardens on your way to the waterfront. Stroll along the flowered pathways and bridges and follow the Town Brook that once provided drinking water to the pilgrims who lived on nearby Leydon Street.

At the waterfront, explore the many historically significant attractions including Cole's Hill, Plymouth Rock, the National Monument of the Forefathers and the Pilgrim Hall Museum.

Don't forget to enjoy lunch at one of the many eateries. You’ll find everything from great Italian food to sumptuous seafood. Leave a little time for browsing at the locally owned shops of Plymouth Landing.
