Visit the Trabi Museum at Checkpoint Charlie and learn all about the history of these famous two-strokers. The "Rennpappe" went into production in 1958 at the VEB Automobilwerk Zwickau and is the most famous vehicle of the former GDR.

See different stages of development of the peoples' car of the former GDR, as well as different uses of the vehicle, such as the camping Trabis and military vehicles. Rarities such as the Trabant P70 with a wooden undercarriage or the fastest Trabi are also on display; an exciting short film is shown in the theater.

You can even get behind the wheel of a Trabi and go on a Trabi Safari, through the East or West, along the former wall, or any route you choose.

The small but fine museum was really cute. The employee was definitely a die-hard Trabi fan and had a good chat with my partner. Even for me, who is not very interested in any kind of cars, it was not boring. A very interesting documentary was shown, where you could even learn something. I thought the museum would be bigger, but the 10 different satellites were enough. We think the museum was definitely worth it for the low entrance fee! - A great place to go for fans anyway!

While the driving experience offered by Trabi Safari is superb, the visit to the museum can be disappointing. A young woman at the reception probably not very motivated, no support or explanations. Some original pieces exhibited quickly covered, We do not linger. Too bad, there was more to say ...
