Full description
After gathering at the tour meeting point with your guide, your walking tour through Arezzo will begin. You will learn how this city arose in the pre-Etruscan era in an area which had been inhabited since prehistoric times. This is evident through the discovery of stone tools and the so-called "Man of the Elm", which dates back to the Paleolithic. This took place near the hamlet of Olmo which occurred throughout the excavation works of a short segment of the Rome-Florence railway line in 1863.
Arezzo was then one of the main Etruscan cities, and you will learn about how throughout the Roman era, especially in the republican period, Arezzo became a very important symbol of Roman expansion to the north. It was also a defensive bastion of the unborn empire.
Throughout your tour you can discover the history and secrets of this city and this territory as you admire findings which date back to centuries ago.
