The wealth of the Wettin princes and the baroque splendour of Dresden would hardly be imaginable without the lavish income from ore mining in the Ore Mountains. The art treasures and craftsmanship, the cultural landscape, the scientific institutions or even traditions and folk art of the Ore Mountains are unique in the world. Recently this has also been recognised by the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Committee.
Experience a varied day in the upper Ore Mountains, leaving from your pickup point in Leipzig. Your destination for the day is the mining town of Annaberg-Buchholz. Named after the patron saint of the miners, St. Anna, the church of the same name dominates the townscape of the town with its 20,000 inhabitants. On the way there you have the possibility to visit a wood artist in his workshop or to enter a visitor mine. Enjoy the wonderful views of mountain peaks and wildly romantic river valleys.
