What people are saying about York
We were a group of ten (four from US and six from U.K.). I had planned this lunch cruise as part of a day in York with our U.K. relatives who live about 35 minutes from York. We headed out from Wakefield with lots of time to spare but the traffic suddenly stopped on the highway and there we sat. We watched the time slip away and knew we would miss our tour and lunch. When we finally arrived 15 minutes late, there was our boat! The skipper had asked the other passengers and crew if they could give us that 15 minutes to get there and they agreed. They all clapped when we boarded. I was so relieved! The staff were friendly and the food delicious. I looked at my phone and saw that a representative had emailed me to let me know the skipper was trying to reach me. I emailed back to let him know we had made it. Thank you, Neil, for your great customer service! I can’t say enough good things about this company.
The scenery was great but the food was NOT worth £30.00 per head. The meal was very bland, the vegetables were overcooked and the chicken was dry - I would normally have sent it back but knew we were on limited time. Also we were rerouted due to a person threatening to jump - we did not get any apology at all. The views were great as we went out to the rural countryside, and not the York architectural route as we had booked for.
The drive is slightly tedious from York, but once in the house where the Brontë sisters created masterpieces, all that is forgotten and the mind tries to grasp the creative genius of three brilliant, wildly creative sisters. The Brontë Parsonage exudes a wonderful aura. The exhibit almost makes their bursting imagination come alive, and for fans of their great books, and I am one, being in their home is a thrill.
Damion “the conductor” did a great job in entraining us despite not many people on the bus - it clashed with Rod Stewart concert at same time. He wasn’t put off by the few passengers and provided an entertaining, informative and sometimes scary insight into York from by-gone times. Very enjoyable.
This Cruise is a must for any visitor to York. With the relaxation of a cruise you glide up and down the Ouse with an easy and dignity embracing all the relevant and informative knowledge of this glorious city. Well done everyone. Thank you.
