What people are saying about Whitby
The minibus was a bit early, so we made a good start, first stop was Helmsley where we had about 40 minutes, just time to have a good look round and buy some Curd tarts (which we both love!), then on to Whitby with a photo stop on the moors. Fish & Chips and Ice cream lunch and some photos of the harbour. The on to Goathland for the Steam train and a look round the Heartbeat sites. On to Pickering by Steam train and then back to York with a short photo stop at an old ruined Abbey. Back by 5.00pm - great value day.
I like the good timing safety and friendly guidance and all the information though out the journey ! Day trip is just adequate to get the flavour of the unknown places , which really made me to do a similar trip once again with the same company. I hope to do York dales or one of other trips again with the same local guide if possible ! I had some quick photo opportunities for my paintings( hobby) . A lot to see in York , with so much history , beauty and culture .
If you are staying in York and want to get onto the moors and visit Whitby this is the trip for you. Whitby is v difficult to reach by public transport. Learned a lot from Lee our friendly driver. Interesting stops en route. Stops at Goathland if you are a Heartbeat fan. We loved Helmsley and Pickering and views from the beacon on top of the moors.
I loved the tour though alittle long maybe be later start less time Whitby Guide, Helen was very good and helped individual needs. This is my 2nd tour with get your guide but alittle shorter time Although by myself as I deaf had guide communicator with me from DeafBlind Scotland
It was a great experience overall. Interesting stories about Yorkshire and beautiful photo stops along the way. Everything went smoothly and we had enough time at every stop. The North York Moors are very beautiful and have a rich history. This trip is definitely worth it!
