We had perfect Icelandic August weather (55F, clear skies and windy) and a relatively small group of people on the large three story boat. The optional wind proof suits did a good job of cutting the wind and keeping us comfortable. Our guide kept us all in the game of hunting for the glimpse of humpbacks and minke whales. Very knowledgable about the whales and Iceland. Bar drinks and musician on board plus absolutely beautiful views of the late setting sun and Reykjavík harbor made it a great first night on Reykjavík.
The trip was well organized. No whales, but enjoyable trip in many ways. Easy toget into the ship and out. The guy in cafeteria was so nice with the customers.
Massive thanks for this awesome tour, completely blew my expectations out of the water, (no pun intended) :) excellent guidance from the Marine biologist Jonathan. We not only saw White beaked dolphins, Harbour Porpoises and a minke whales we where gifted with a very rare sighting of a Humpback Whale close to land. Obviously you are always relying on Mother Nature for a tour like this... but the Ship was In great condition, very comfy and they even provide warm overalls which wt a real lifesaver. +motion sickness tablets for anyon with potentially wobbly sea legs!
We enjoyed the sighting of the shy whales minke, diver cormorants as well as puffins with a very nice weather and the illustrative explanations of the wise guide.
My wife and I had a great experience, and saw numerous Minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, and gannets diving for fish (which I had never seen before). What made this especially unique was the guide. He clearly had a passion for and knowledge of marine biology. Instead of just being a spotter, he was also an educator, and during the way back gave a miniature lecture on cetacean biology and behavior complete with whale vertebrae, baleen, and ear bones. Overall, the trip was worth much more than the entrance fee!
