Stunning

We met under the clocktower and were taken into St Mark's Basilica by a lady who's name I forgot as soon as she started talking as she was so informative and made everything so interesting the tour last over an hour and this lady hardly paused for a breath, her knowledge was amazing and she did it all from memory we would definitely recommend this tour

Golden mosaics seen at just the right time.

We were able to see the mosaics in their full glory by going at the right time. When the lights went off the ceiling mosaics could not be seen. It was very busy with many lines of people going around. It's a shame that the Basilica appears to be more of an art gallery and museum I just hope that worshippers get to feel it as a church when the tourists aren't there. I would have liked more time to view and be informed about the different Bible scenes - I only found out about these afterwards by reading the small guide book. (At 5 euros with loads of photos this was well worth it - bought where you pay to go behind the altar screen)
