Full description
Experience firsthand one of the most important aspects of Valencian culinary and social culture with a paella cooking class. After meeting at the cooking school, the 10:00 AM classes begin with a visit to Mercado Central, Valencia’s central market, to select the best local ingredients that the region has to offer. Amble the bustling rows of stalls with your guide, taking in the colorful bounties of fresh products, before strolling through the historic Barrio del Carmen and beginning the class upon your return to the school.

If you’ve selected the afternoon tour, you’ll cut right to the chase and begin cooking without a market visit, with all ingredients ready for you upon your arrival. Donning an apron and chef’s hat, you’ll begin to prepare Valencia’s most prized dish with the help of a masterfully talented instructor. As the paella simmers, midway through you’ll have the opportunity to take a break for a tasting of local white wines.

After learning the intricacies of prepping the perfect paella, you’ll sit down to dine on the fruits of your labor. Enjoy red wine and soft drinks as you eat, coming to an understanding of the importance of paella in not simply a culinary sense, but as a dish integral to Valencia’s social culture. At the end of your course, you’ll take home a diploma to show off the skills you’ve picked up, and above all, you’ll be ready to replicate the dish back home.
