Full description
Step out on an excursion to discover the Basilica of Superga, designed by the famous 18th century architect Filippo Juvarra, burial place to many princes and kings of the Savoy house. Built by the will of Duke Vittorio Amedeo II because of a vow he made to the Madonna delle Grazie in 1706, when the city of Turin was under siege by the French-Spanish army.

From Superga, you can also enjoy a spectacular view over the city, the valleys and mountains all around. On clear days, it is possible to recognize some of the most important peaks of the Alps like Monviso, Orsiera, Rocciamelone, Gran Paradiso, Apostoli, Torre di Lavina and Monte Rosa with Doufour peak. Outside, behind the church, a tombstone marks the location where an airplane with 31 people on-board crashed, among them, all of the Turin Football Club players on May 4, 1949. Reach Superga by the characteristic rack tramway.
