What people are saying about Sicily

Roberto is an aesthete with such a passion for his subject - Sicily!

We were picked up at 10.30am by Roberto, our tour guide. As we sped along in his battered Ford he explained about the lava, it's use in building and architecture,it's fertile minerals, the importance of the sun,the wind, the rain and the old ways of making wine. We started with a small producer, meeting up with two other couples and their guides. We sampled a white, a rose and two reds, all generously poured, the perfumed white proved to be our favourite of the day. Next we went to a slightly bigger outfit where we sat down at tables and were given a light meal of foccacia, sun-dried tomatoes, aubergine pickled with celery, olives marinated with fennel, small slices of salami and cubes of cheese. Still only the three couples, we sampled a white, a rose, two reds and a red dessert wine. Lastly we went to the Gambino estate, the panoramic view was simply stunning.Pleasantly full and slightly stupified we relaxed in the back of the Ford instead worrying about the cracked windscreen!

The trip was amazing! We witnessed a superb sunset.

The trip was interesting, fun, and it allowed us to discover Etna’s mesmerising landscapes, as well as the delicious local culinary products. The tour’s logistics were well set in place. The car arrived at the hotel at the appointed time. Our guide, Salvo, was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and charismatic, answering all our questions and paying special attention to all the tour participants’ needs. We were also lucky enough to have clear skies, so we were able to watch the sunset from the top of one of the Silvestri craters, surrounded by very few other tourists. The colours were breathtaking and made the trip all worth it. It’s an experience that I would recommend to anyone coming to Sicily.

Francesca was an exceptional guide as well as charming .

Glad to have the opportunity to leave a review. We were lucky enough to get Francesca on a Sunday. She is knowledgeable as well as flexible ( given we are both over 65) Francesca was able to impart a wealth of knowledge we would never have known otherwise. She also showed us many locations of historical significance and explained their background. As well as this we visited the local markets and streets and , Francesca explained some of the Palmero culture which were just as much fun. Not to mention a couple of little shop detours on the way. Our trip to Palermo was greatly enriched by Francesca’s tour. Grazie Mille Francesca !

Great guide and experience. Information on arrangements poor.

Web site said Etna, then described Stromboli? Confirmation email said 8:30 departure. Gondola does not start until 9:00 ? Actual guiding by Ashara out of a van, not an Information Centre. No information on this. Web site still indicates trek to 3,300m along crater rim. Not possible due to recent eruptions, but web site should be up to date. Salvatore (guide) excellent. Very knowledgeable and took the time to provide many explanations. He kept a good pace and looked after the slower members of the group. Overall, enjoyed the trek very much.

Exactly as described, nice easy peaceful walk of approximately 3hrs

Excellent walk for the novice trekkers. Exactly as described, nice easy peaceful walk lasting approximately 3hrs. All with the expert guidance of English speaking guide Giuseppe. Who was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. The history of Etna and the more recent happenings of Etna. It was our last day of the holiday and we are taking home some stunning memories and pictures. Many thanks guys.
