We enjoyed the 4 hour morning tour lead by Jamie, a very knowledgeable, personable and entertaining guide. The total trip tim is closer to 5 1/2 hrs which included a 45 minute ride from pickup / drop off location to the rain forest. Jamie used different routes so patrons could see more of the island in addition to the rain forest. El Yunque cannot accurately be described with words or pictures. Very much like the Grand Canyon; you just have to be there to soak it in. The tour bus was very comfortable and well air conditioned. Be prepared for rain; it is a rain forest. We were blessed with a beautiful day with only brief rains as we were leaving El Yunque. The walking paths are very manageable; however, I highly recommend comfortable walking / tennis shoes. Thong sandals, flip-flops, etc are a poor choice.
We arrived a bit late after running the entire way there. After we got settled in on the boat and caught our breath, we moved away from the pier and the sails went up. The boat is gorgeous, very antique looking. The crew was absolutely amazing, fun, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food and beverages seemed to never stop! All the food is from local vendors and is delicious. The sunset kinda fizzled out but there was lots of other opportunities for photos including the 500 million $ yacht we sailed by. We had an awesome time and would do it again. Plan to get there early and plan to tip the crew they will earn it.!!
Our group had a great time with our tour guide, Mr. Martinez. He was very personable and knowledgeable. He was able to tell us about everything we were seeing & even answered some general questions about Puerto Rico. We were able to stop & eat some authentic Puerto Rican food as well a so a little souvenir shopping. My only complaint is that I would have liked another stop or 2 for souvenir shopping.
I couldn't imagine coming to this island and not experiencing this! This is a huge part of their country and culture! We got to go to a waterfall, see the tower and our tour guide was very very informative! He even dropped us off a few blocks from our hotel at a restaurant he highly recommended for myself, a vegetarian, who was having trouble finding food to eat here!!!
rain forest was an incredible experience, however our your guide Javier, changed pick up time and location at the last minute.... he then became frustrated when I was unable yup provide directions despite the fact that I was a tourist.. he was rude and threatened to leave us behind...
