What people are saying about Sa Pa
This is the 2nd time i come back Sapa. This time with my friends and I have to find a better services rather than the night train for 2 ways Hanoi - Sapa - Hanoi. With the night train. It is noisy all the night time, sometimes it shakes and brakes along the way. It would disturb your sleep. I decided to choose the package Sapa 2 days with Bus tranfer. I was right!!! We have a perfect package tour with the very comfortable mini bus tranfer from Hanoi - Sapa - Hanoi. The bus pick up us at our hotel at 06.45 am. With drive 5 and half hour we stopped 2 times and arrived Sapa about 12.45. After the lunch our tour guide come to pick up at 2.30pm for the 1rst trekking tour to Cat Cat. The pick up for 2nd day at 09.30 was perfect as we need a good relax after a day tranfer and trekking before. Peaceful villages Lao Chai Ta Van were the nice local village we visited. We had chance to see the house of a Hmong people where local guide brough us there. Lovely experience. Highly recommended!
The drive from Hanoi to Sapa is long but worth the trip. Once we arrived, the tours were organized by which hotel you stayed at. The first day's trek was shorter but involved going down and back up. The second day's trek was longer but only involved downhill and getting bused back to the hotel. The description online didn't quite match with the itinerary (first day trek uphill - no bus, but then dinner included). Our guide, Tai My, was a member of a local tribe and showed us through the villages. She was a great guide, very friendly and she answered all our questions about the area and life in Sapa. We had sun on the second day, so we could see the whole valley and it is incredible. Apparently September is a good time to visit, where everything is green and in full flower. This area was different from the rest of our visit in Vietnam and well worth the money.
The tour started really bad because we were waiting in our hotel lobby for about one and a quarter hour. After trying to call and text for several times we got the answer that we will be picked up shortly. The bus that arrived then did not have enough seats. So two people had to stand while driving through Hanoi to get to the sleeping bus. The pickup guy was really unfriendly and even insulated my wife not knowing that she speaks Vietnamese fluently. Afterwards their was nothing to complain about. Very comfy modern sleeping bus, enough breaks during the trip. Sapa itself was really a fantastic choice to visit. Amazing scenery combined with hiking made it unforgettable for us.
We did the two day tour. The mini bus was very comfortable and driver was on time and a good driver. Hospitality at the hotel (Kevin at Legend hotel) was excellent. Their food was superb. We were disappointed in Sa Pa which is over commercialised, crowded and built out. There is no charm left to the place. We only did the first day "trek" which is basically a walk through shops masquerading as a village. We opted out of the second day.
Great two-days trip through fantastic landscape and villages surrounding SaPa. Our guide - Chi talked really good English and had a lot to tell about the landscape, plants and the way of living in the remote villages in the area. We did this trekking with the best pace on tour with small group. Great food at the village in the middle of nowhere! Highly recommended!
