Full description
The first stop on your tour will be to the Catacombs of St. Sebastianus. There you can explore the catacombs themselves, which are comprised of a huge site containing 12 kilometers of galleries. It is also there in St. Sebastianus where the martyrs and many other Christians were buried.

These quarries are the origin of a pagan cemetery, which was later to be used by Christians. Back then, the term catacumbas ended up qualifying all underground cemeteries, which were simply called catacombs. Opt to visit the Catacombs of Saint Callixtus as an alternative to the Catacombs of St. Sebastianus.

Afterwards, visit the Basilica and Catacombs of Saint Clemente. Admire the spectacular mosaics and frescoes. Travel back in time to explore the Basilica of the fourth century, then descend into the world of the first century where there is still a pagan temple.

Finally, you will visit the Cripta dei Cappuccini, located just under the Church Santa Maria della Concezione. This construction is considered a true work of art for its decorations executed with human bones by an unknown "brilliant artist".
