See the best of Rome on a full-day shore excursion from Civitavecchia Port, and explore the magnificent Italian capital without the hassle of organized group tours.
Transfer from Civitavecchia along the highway, arriving in Rome approximately 1.5 hours later. Your guide will be waiting on arrival to take you on a panoramic tour of sites such as the Thermal Baths of Caracalla, Circo Massimo and Colosseum.
Start with the Trevi Fountain, and throw a coin in the water to ensure this is not your last trip to the “Eternal City.” Continue to Piazza Venezia to admire the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, also known as the “Altare della Patria” (“Altar of the Fatherland”).
Look at Trajan’s Column, the last remains of Il Foro di Traiano (Trajan’s Forum), and the Senatorial Building, before walking to the Roman Forum and Colosseum. Marvel at the greatest amphitheater of the Roman Republic, built as a symbol of the eternity of the Roman civilization. See the Arco di Costantino, the last of the triumphal monuments from the classical age.
Break for some free time to enjoy lunch on your own. Then, go to the stunning St. Peter’s Basilica, built on the tomb of the saint. Discover stunning art by Michelangelo, Bernini and more, among the aisles and vaults beneath the iconic dome. Your transfer back to Civitavecchia will be waiting at the end of the tour.
