Full description
The Pantheon, the only ancient Roman building that has remained intact through the centuries, was built by Agrippa between 25 and 27 BC as a temple dedicated to the twelve Gods and to the living Sovran. It was reconstructed by Hadrian between 118 and 125 AD.

It was officially converted to Christianity and named Saint Maria ad Martyres in 608 AD when Pope Boniface IV removed many martyrs from the Christian catacombs and placed them in the Pantheon.

You can choose to donate 2, 5, 10 or 20 euros to this cause. The donations to the Basilica of Santa Maria and the Martyrs are aimed at supporting the pastoral activities of the parishes of Rome which have reduced financial resources. The funds will also help the missionary priests to provide services to people regardless of their religious and social background.

Your contributions will also support the cultural activities of the Basilica such as "Organistic September", which provides scholarships for deserving students from European music conservatories, and the "International Review of Sacred Art".
