Full description
Rome's seven famous hills offer stunning vistas over the piazzas, cupolas and monuments below. Enjoy this private bike tour through the Eternal City's most coveted viewpoints. Choose a City Bike for a traditional experience, or upgrade your trip to an E-Bike tour. Your bike tour through history begins in Vatican City at the Papal Basilica of San Pietro, or simply St. Peter’s Basilica, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture that symbolizes the early ambition and opulence of the Renaissance popes. This dome shaped piazza is bordered on either side by two huge colonnades that were designed principally by Baroque genius Lorenzo Bernini. Inside, even the most travelled tourists will easily be breezed by the marvelous cavernous 187000cm long interior and other priceless works that greet them, of course, including Michelangelo's awe-inspiring Pieta.

Cycle across the Via Della Conciliazione and head to the right bank of River Tevere where you’ll encounter Castel Sant’Angelo, a towering ancient Italian building that was initially commissioned by Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. Once the tallest building in Rome, Sant’Angelo now serves as a museum, the Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo. Continue biking and right ahead you’ll come face to face with Gianicolo, the hill that affords you the best view of Rome. The panorama from the top of Gianicolo leaves you breathless. And not only does Ganicolo hill give you a stunning view of Rome’s beautiful landmarks and buildings, but also a slightly modern history lesson on Risorgimento, the nineteenth-century revolution that unified present Italy. Bike past the busts of the ancient heroes that are scattered along the pathways while stopping for a few seconds to enjoy the gigantic statute of the legendary Giuseppe Garibaldi on horseback.

Bike further ahead to meet one of the seven great hills of Rome on which this ancient city was built, the Aventino hill, where you'll peek through the Knight's of Malta Keyhole. Conclude the tour in the heart of Rome, above Piazza del Popolo, as you climb towards the Pincio Terrace and Villa Borghese. Here, save one last gasp for Michelangelo’s celebrated architectural achievement: the dome which dominates the skyline in a soul-stirring panorama of Rome’s rooftops awash in spectacular rose-gold light.
