5-Hour Walking Tour: Best of Rome's Attractions
- Discover the many faces of the Eternal City
- See St. Peter's Basilica and the Spanish Steps
- Throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain so that one day you will return
- Walk in the footsteps of Roman emperors, gladiators, and citizens
Groups are kept to no more than 35 participants to facilitate easy transportation around the city, and to keep the experience more personal. Where are you headed? The-almost-2,000-year-old Pantheon. The former temple is fully preserved and one of Rome’s most impressive attractions.
You will also visit one of the most beautiful town squares at Piazza di Spagna, with its famous Spanish Steps. They provide a popular backdrop for photo shoots and fashion shows, and are located by some of the most famous shopping streets in Rome, Via Condotti, and Via Frattina.
Crossing Via del Corso, continue to Piazza Colonna, named for the marble Column of Marcus Aurelius. Admire the bronze statue of Saint Paul that has crowned the column since 1589, paced there by order of Pope Sixtus V. The north side of the square is taken up by Palazzo Chigi, formerly the Austro-Hungarian empire's embassy, and now the seat of the Italian government.
Visit Fontana Trevi, the fantastic fountain made famous by Federico Fellini’s film “La Dolce Vita.” Continue to Piazza Venezia, with its imposing monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Get great city views from Capitoline Hill, the smallest of Rome’s 7 hills, and visit the Palazzo Senatorio, home of the Roman City Hall, as well as Piazza del Campidoglio, famously designed by Michelangelo. End your tour at the Colosseum, the most famous amphitheater in the world.
