What people are saying about Porto

Fun tour, beautiful views, friendly guide

This tour is probably the best tour we've done and funnest thing we've done in Portugal. All thanks to our very friendly and knowledgeable guide, Sophia, and the beautiful views/ drive. The port wines were tasty, but I would not say excellent. The pink port wine is tasty & interesting because it's not sold in the USA. The river cruise is scenic, but you're on a large, powered boat, not a small, hand-rowed boat as the description/ photos imply. Lunch was ok and drinks were provided. I felt cheated because the description stated 2 wineries, but instead we went to 1 winery and 1 olive oil ranch. We had 4 good tastings at the winery and 2 poor tastings at the olive oil ranch - the grape juice they provided tasted better than those 2 ports :-/ But Sophia's friendliness and knowledge made up for the one less winery. She explained many interesting facts with historical & scientific background. It was very easy to have a conversation with her. Sophia is a true professional guide.

Great wine and port, spectacular scenery, and a helpful tour guide.

After an on-time hotel pickup and 1.5 hour drive, we came to the first winery. We had an entertaining tour and tried a variety of delicious wines and especially delicious ports. After that was a cruise at a leisurely pace up the Douro River and back. We followed up with a nice, relaxed, “traditional” Portuguese lunch including cod and pork. The last stop was another winery/olive oilery with history, tastings, and an award-winning view. The tour was about 9.5 hours from hotel pick up to drop off. Our tour guide was great and provided lots of commentary during the driving portions. Overall a great experience. Happy we did it and well worth the money!

Great way to see the city with a small child

This trip was really good value, the man in the office was super friendly and told us about a lovely little restaurant in the museum across the road (We had lunch here before the tour - highly recommend). The train ride was fine, much more comfortable than I thought it would be after reading the reviews. The wine cellar tour was interesting and not too long for our daughter - the tasters were a nice touch . The boat trip was lovely. Do arrive early for the boat trip, we did as advised by previous reviews and there was already a queue. The boat also left 20 minutes earlier than departure time. Would definitely recommend.

great value for money, it covers all the sightseeing highlights

BUY THIS. The bus tour took us to all the parts of Porto that need to be seen, and gave us a good overview of the city. Then later we walked to all the parts that we liked from the bus. It was a bit hard to figure out the schedule (it is not really every 30 minutes), so we decided not to hop on and off too much, but rather walk. The boat tour was very nice, we enjoyed it a lot. The wine tasting was nice too. Amazing price for everything that you get. I just wish there was a website or something because it was hard to find out about the bus stops, where to do wine tasting, where to activate the voucher, etc.

Great tour but shame about the vegetarian food!

The tour was really good, our tour guide Sara was super friendly with perfect English. The two wineries we went to were great and the whole tour was good apart from one thing. While the non-vegetarians got either sea bass or pork, the vegetarian option was just an omelette with some vegetables and dessert was some watermelon (as the dessert had gelatin in it), hardly the same in terms of cost to make. I honestly think they should give vegetarians some sort of discount or come up with a better alternative!
