Poble Espanyol's Best Picnic Spots and Restaurants
The Poble Espanyol is a one-of-a-kind museum on Barcelona's famed Montjuic hill: made up of 117 buildings, the "museum" is actually a full-sized Iberian village. Filled with great spots to indulge in the local gastronomy, here are our recommendations!
1. Tapes Tapas
Hidden away, this gem of a restaurant is absolutely worth seeking out. Tapes Tapas is one of those rare spots where you can enjoy exquisite tapas without breaking the bank.
2. El Tablao de Carmen
The famous El Tablao de Carmen hosts some of the most amazing flamenco shows in Barcelona. Insider's tip: book a table downstairs, you'll have a much better view of the dancers!
3. La Font de Prades
Looking for a no-frills yet delicious traditional meal at a reasonable price? Then La Font de Prades is the place for you. The charming outside area is ideal for balmy evenings.
4. Picnic Area
At the top of the village, there's a large and beautiful picnic area, offering an idyllic spot for families to enjoy an open-air meal in the shade of the pine trees.
5. Picnic in the plaza
Picnics are allowed throughout the village, so you can also enjoy a snack in one of the many picturesque squares, such as the large Plaza Mayor or the quaint Plaza de la Fuente.
Planning Your Visit
Best period to visit
Though a visit to the Poble Espanyol is delightful on any sunny day, it's especially worth it during the summer months thanks to the many outdoor concerts and events. The outdoor cinema is also open in the summer – the perfect cap to a day of walking and discovery.
Artisans at work
Make sure to check out the 40 or so artisans throughout the village, many of whom will exhibit their craft for your enjoyment. The glass blower is particularly popular.

What people are saying about Poble Espanyol
This is an excellent way to see the city overall and decide what you want to go back and take your time seeing. There is some issues with the tour either being behind or ahead of the point of interest on some of the buses, and on one bus there was no information for some of the stops at all.
The bus is helpful if you want to get an overall view of the city, however the audio is not great (hard to hear clearly). If you cannot afford a private tour, or taking a taxi to the places you want to visit/see, then the bus is a good value.
It was super easy to exchange the voucher for a ticket at the airport without having to struggle with ticket machines. The only down-side, I didn't get to explore the discounts that the card offered but there were really a lot of options!
Good routes, lots of stops, informative recorded guide. Reasonable value for money, although possibly cheaper if you buy at the time or via hotel rather than in advance?
Perfect way to see the most popular and beautiful places of town. Easy to buy tickets online and exchange to travel voucher. Two routes included.
