What people are saying about Palmela
Our tour was very good and made better because of Andre, our guide. Loved visiting the wineries and Palmelo Castle - and though it was a little cold, the fact that Lisbon was not overrun with tourists was just perfect. We had a great lunch at a small restaurant in Sesimbre - the only blemish on the tour was that we did not know that in a restaurant in Portugal, they will put out out all kinds of small plates - olives, bread, fried thingies, even if you did not ask for it - and if you eat anything they will charge you for it. I wish our guide had told us about this so that we were not surprised when we got a bill with ten items on it when we actually ordered only three. We took the tour on the second day of our visit to Portugal so we did not know this custom. So, if you do not want to get charged extra, you should refuse all the little plates and have them sent back. However, the food at the restaurant was excellent so it made up for the surprise in billing.
Good sightseeing tour with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide. Great for experiencing the Lisbon area/surroundings in a day. On the wine side it was more set up as a sales trip than an educational trip. Not showing or explaining the particulars of the wines in any detail apart from the presentation and tasting in the sales rooms. Niece enough but I would have liked something a bit deeper into the production methods etc even if I realize this would have been eating into the sightseeing bit of the trip so I guess it is a balance one must make to keep everybody happy.
We were very satisfied with our tour. Communication was easy as the tourguide dominates English, Spanish and German. He gave us also tips to save up money during the lunch break. If you are interested in culture and landscapes, this is the right tour for you! Whine tasting was really nice and interesting.
Very entuthiastic guide who knew a lot of facts about the places we visited. We were only two in the party due to the season and was very well taken care of. Thank you for the tour. Here is a blogg about the trip http://www.ufo.se/blogg/21255
I would recommend that another small vineyard be included with the first one we visited. The Foseca wine was not tasty and although the vineyard was interesting they were too busy. The rest of the day was very nice. Margaret Cozine
