What people are saying about Paihia
The cruise with Adam and Blue has been simply wonderful. A friend who had done it a couple of weeks ago had recommended it very warmly because the boat was small, the approach to nature respectful, and the people extremely nice. The group (about 15 people) was nice, Adam and Blue are simply wonderful people who really love what they are doing. Their philosophy is: if we see dolphins we are going to stop to observe them, but we are not going to chase them. And dolphins we did meet. And we stopped. And observed them. And they played around our boat for about 15 minutes. We visited two islands, both astoundingly beautiful. On the second we stopped for a couple of hours, paddle boarding and snorkeling (they provide all the equipment), and it was heaven. We were the only people on the island, so you could hear cicadas and the sea. The rest was silence. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Our daughter and I are telling people this was one of the most beautiful day in our lives. Tks Adam & Blue
As a retired tour driver, I was very pleased to have had Rachael providing a very complete narration for the day. She not only covered the sights we saw, she also shed light on the history of the area and the political significance of the people involved in the area's historical past. She was also well versed in the flora and fauna that we encountered throughout the tour. She had a great sense of humor that kept everyone wanting to hear more. Lastly, she displayed genuine concern for our safety while on tour.
My partner and I had a great day out on this tour. Lin was a great guide, relaxed and made everyone feel comfortable. He was really knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife we encountered. Bonus that we saw both penguins and dolphins throughout the day. The stops at the two islands was a perfect addition to the tours around the islands. This tour is a beautiful way to see the Bay of Islands. Don't miss it!!
We really enjoyed our day on the tall ship, relaxing or you can help pull up the sails, fantastic when the wind picked up and the sails were full, around the islands and you can go ashore on one of the island if you like, beautiful lunch tandoori chicken and salad prepared by the crew and scones for morning tea. We also went across to Russell and returned by the ferry included in the ticket.
This was a wonderful trip. The skipper has the flexibility of shifting the order of the day to match things like dolphin sightings. She was very informative and welcoming. Her crew was great as well. We didn't get to swim with the dolphins only because the only pod we kept seeing had babies in it. We did get to set quite a bit of activity. We would highly recommend this trip
