Really nice place to visit for history lovers. The ruins are huge and quite well preserved. Audioguide deliver interesting information about the spots on your own pace. I recommend bringing your own headset to make it more enjoyable. Book plenty of time for this activity, there is a lot to discover!

The actual ticket I bought and that experience was totally fine. The tons of people at Pompei, most of whom didn’t really know where they were going any more than I did was a bit chaotic, but that would have been the case (and much more so) had I not bought a ticket and audio guide in advance. The audio guide itself is okay. There are times when it does not seem to align with the numbered area you are in, or at which it tells you no information is available, but the freedom to explore on my own was to me worth it. I’m sure a guided tour would have been perhaps more efficient, but I wasn’t after efficiency! I’m also sure there are major sites I missed, but just a good wander through the ruins was amazing.

I bought a combi ticket (fast lane + audioguide) (2,50€ more than the usual price) In the end, the ticket counters were totaly empty and I did not need to use the fast lane. But during holdiays or in summertime I guess it´s a advantage to have this ticket to skip the line.
