What people are saying about Marshall-Brücke
First, let me say that the Reichstag and dome are wonderful. A must for any visitor and not to be missed. We're not German speaking, but all the free entry places and English speaking tours were fully booked when we tried the week before our trip, (Be aware that entry to the Reichstag is actually free and can be booked online with sufficient notice.) So we booked this tour in German which is one hour round the Parliament quarter (outside the Reichstag) with a tour guide, conducted in German, followed by entry to the Reichstag and dome, for which no guide is necessary and the dome has a free English audio guide. When we met the guide, he was very helpful and explained that he wouldn't have time to repeat his commentary in English (in which he was fluent), but we could skip the first hour, grab a coffee (or beer) and meet him outside the Reichstag entrance later. Perfect; we got what we wanted despite late booking and at a modest cost.
First a multi langual guide that, even on his birthday, would lead the group of 14 in an enthousiatic way around the reichstag buildings. Gave a lot of background information on the surroundings. Second the professional german guide of reichstag explained in a detailed but still humoristic way the proceedings of reichstag employees. Lastly a walk around the rooftop and dome with splendid view over Berlin. Explanation with free audioguide multiple (also dutch) language. Good value for maney, to skip the line when free tours are already sold out.
although we are dutch speaking, we took de German tour for Reichstag +dome. The guide was well experienced and gave detailed information at the start. The tour went in the opposite direction and ended in the Reichstag were we were free to attend a discourse of 45 minutes about the origin and function of this building during history. We also could visit the dome by ourselves using the headphones at the entrance (in dutch). Very good starter for further discovery of the neigbourhood!
All in all this tour was every penny worth it... Eckie (Eckerhard) was the perfect guide. Funny and with great overall and personal historic knowlegde (Knowlegde of the german language is necessary on this tour. I translated to english my teenage son) We enjoyed the tour very much and the stay i the centre of the german political system. The "Kuppel" was fantastic.
Our tour guide was well informed and provided us with plenty of details, all in all it was a very interesting walk through the parliament quarter and we skipped the line to the Reichstag, which was of great advantage, especially for the low cost of the ticket.
