What people are saying about Lucca
We were not informed that once we met at the location in downtown Florence that we would board a bus for a thirty minute ride to the location. We have kids that get carsick easily. I would have prepared for that differently. Our point of contact was late due to traffic issues and that cut into our class. That wasn’t anyone’s fault... just not something we were prepared for. I felt a little like we got tricked into leaving the area we were and changing location by such a long distance. On a different note our instructor, Valentina, was AMAZING! We had two kids with us that will undoubtedly remember that class as the best part of our vacation to Florence.
We spent a really nice evening with Thomas and the other participants and enjoyed very good pizza. You get recipes for the pizza and ice cream and get some decisive hints for a good pizza dough. Getting to the place was actually a bit annoying because we had to walk an extra 15 minutes and then went by private bus for 30 minutes because of heavy traffic. In the description it further said 'dinner and drinks' included, which was basically one glass of wine or one soft drink per person, which I expected to be different. Nevertheless, it's a really nice thing to do in Italy.
Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our pizza and gelato making with Julio. First, we were late, and flustered, yet Julio waited for us and that was truly appreciated. We then went to the location which was really cool and learned and participated in making the dough, the pizza pie and the gelato. Best ever! Definitely an experience to remember and enjoy. Eating the food with red wine was great, too. Julio was fun, personable and well educated. He taught us and made it fun!
I really liked the cooking class, I think a big part of its charm is the teacher. In my case the teacher was called Thomas, he explained everything so well and answered all of my questions. Anther important thing I wanted to mention is that I really liked the atmosphere this class had and the teamwork that it involved. In conclusion I would reccomend this class to anyone that has some free hours to spend on Florence while also learning something interesting about cooking.
It was a fun class. Our kids (12 and 13) enjoyed it, too. We didn’t receive the certificates or recipe book as listed. It was quite a long walk from the meeting place to the kitchen as well. But overall I would recommend this for families!
