Full description
Take a tour of the timeless Tower of London – part of British history since the 11th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was built in 1086 by William the Conqueror.

Discover London’s castle – a secure fortress, royal palace, and infamous prison. Spot the ravens that live on the premises and find out why they are known as the guardians of the Tower. Stroll across Tower Green to see where many executions took place, including those of 2 of Henry VIII's wives. You will also have access to the inside of the tower.

Prepare to be dazzled by the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. These priceless symbols of the British Monarchy compose the greatest working collection of crown jewels in the world. Pore over the 23,578 gems, including the glistening Imperial State Crown - this piece alone has 2,868 diamonds, 273 pearls, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, and 5 rubies.

Join one of the infamous Yeoman Warders tours and hear the tales of intrigue, imprisonment, execution, and torture that mar the castle’s history. The tours and talks are suitable for all ages and are included as part of your admission ticket. Simply join the tour at the signposted spot near the entrance. Lots to see but you need to get there early as 3 hours was nowhere near enough for us to see everything. Take the guided tour with a beefeater as they are most informative and funny too. Lots of history, the incredible Crown Jewels and wonderful gory stories !! Worth while knowing you need to show your phone at the ticket office so they can scan and hand over tickets. Queuing and then being told to turn around and queue again is not funny.

The Tower of London is of course a very famous and important historical landmark in London. It was well kept, clean, and generally organized it is. The people working there were friendly. It was interesting to see the guardsmen on the grounds doing their formations. The only thing that I did not like was the poor ravens in cages with no roofs in the wind and rain. Kids were trying to poke objects in their cages. These are modern times. There should be no caged animals at tourist sites like The Tower of London. Sad.

We booked this knowing it was going to be a very wet, rainy day, and hoped we would be able to make the best of a wet day.... unfortunately we spent a lot of time outdoors going from tower to tower, queuing to get in the next small room. It’s a great place to see but maybe not as a ‘Safe rainy day Activity‘. Amazing grounds, and lots of rooms full of fascinating things to see and learn. If we ever went back to London We would probably go back on a nicer day to enjoy the route around and grounds some more.
