Admire the spectacular glass roof of the Great Court, a work of art in its own right. Then, see the world-famous “Rosetta Stone,” the key to deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphics. Admire the controversial Parthenon Sculptures, taken from the Parthenon in Athens by Lord Elgin, the former British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire.

Go to the Ancient Egypt galleries to see the large collection of Egyptian mummies, and discover the Anglo-Saxon “Sutton Hoo” burial relics, as well as the “Winged Bulls” from Khorsabad.

Highly recommend!!

We found the meeting place super easy, our guide was SO sweet and super knowledgeable. We loved how quick but thoroughly she covered the museum because it’s so large, 2 hours really isn’t enough time to see everything but she did an amazing job of covering the most important areas and giving us tips of where to go if we had more time afterwards. 2 hours in my opinion though was just enough time for my attention span so for me the tour could not have been more perfect! Unfortunately I don’t remember our guides name but she was French with shoulder length dark (kind of dark red/brown) hair. Wish I could thank her more she was the best!

BM Highlights

Even there wa no line so the skip line was not necessary we were lucky that our tour turned out to be a private tour with the guide and just 2 of us. Tonny is very good guide and he showed us the most important objects in BS giving some interesting background about the history of the museum and the objects. If you have limited time for visit the musem this is very good option.

This is an excellent tour if you don’t have too much time to see the museum. The tour guide Melisa was wonderful, very knowledgeable and kept us engaged the full two hours. The time went really fast. I highly recommend this tour especially with Melisa.
