Full description
Day 1 Meet the rest of your small group and begin the journey south west through the South Downs National Park to Winchester, home to one of the biggest cathedrals in Europe. Continue through the New Forest to Corfe Castle, an impressive 1,000 year old ruin. Next, visit one of England’s most impressive natural wonders; Lulworth Cove. This area is world famous for its unique geology and crystal clear water.  The overnight stop is Exmouth, a traditional coastal resort. With two miles of golden sandy beach and some delicious seafood available, this is a wonderful place to rest after a day exploring South West England. 

Day 2 After a leisurely start, you will journey to Dartmoor National Park. With stunning views, deep wooded valleys, medieval farmhouses and Bronze Age stone circles, this is an incredible park to spend a few hours exploring. Look out for the famous Dartmoor ponies! We’ll make a stop at the famous Clapper Bridge at Postbridge for pictures! We’ll enjoy a lunch stop in the market town of Tavistock, which historians have discovered is the birthplace of the cream tea! Sir Francis Drake, the famous sea captain, was also born here. Venture behind the Town Hall and discover the award winning and historic Pannier Market. Your day will continue through Bodmin Moor, one of Cornwall’s designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as you make your way to the coastal town of Falmouth, where you’ll spend the next 2 nights.

Day 3 Make your way to Mousehole where you’ll have a chance to explore this beautiful little fishing village, which has retained its original character and charm. Continue to Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre - an unforgettable stop, the open-air theater has breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Continue west to Land’s End, England’s most westerly point. You can enjoy a cliff-top walk here and take in the striking views. The final stop of the day is in St Ives.

Day 4 Make your way to Port Isaac, the filming location for Doc Martin. Even if you’re not a fan of the show, you’ll love this stunning village with its picturesque white washed cottages. Next, visit Tintagel, legendary birthplace of King Arthur, a place to get lost in the myths of the past. Then it’s on to Boscastle for lunch, home to an unspoiled harbor village and the perfect place to enjoy a Cornish pasty! Continue to Ilfracombe for more impressive coastal views. The overnight stop is Bristol, home to Clifton’s iconic suspension bridge – free to walk and offering stunning views of the Avon Gorge. 

Day 5 Day five takes you into the Cotswolds, first to Cirencester, the largest town in the Cotswold District. Visit some of the smaller Cotswold villages, so you have a chance to immerse yourself in the sleepy beauty of these limestone villages. Continue on to Ironbridge, a village perched on the River Severn. the overnight stop is the pretty English city of Chester. Here you can walk the Roman walls to get your bearings and a bird’s-eye view of the city, it takes about an hour to complete the full route, however, there are loads of stopping points and distractions such as Roman ruins, Chester Cathedral and the River Dee to admire along the way. Please note on this day you will join a new group of travelling companions and meet your new driver-guide.

Day 6 Start the day in Chester. Perhaps you will wander the 700-year-old Rows, the only raised shopping arcade of its kind in the world. Head west to Wales to drive the Llanberis Pass and revel in the mountainous scenery. Snowdonia National Park is full of wild landscapes; you’re here to enjoy the peaks, waterfalls, lakes and historic villages. Visit Conwy, a walled market town home to Conwy Castle and a lovely harbor. You can explore narrow cobbled streets and take in views of the Thomas Telford Suspension Bridge that leads up to the Castle before you return to Chester for a second night.

Day 7 Today is all about the Peak District National Park, known for its stunning views and small but bustling market towns. Stop in the pretty spa town of Buxton, the highest elevated market town in England. Make your way to Bakewell, famous for Bakewell pudding; a delicious English dessert perfect for an afternoon snack. Another highlight is the lavish stately home of Chatsworth House - set in idyllic gardens, there’s plenty to explore inside and out. You’ll spend your third evening in York, which has been named the most haunted city in Europe.

Day 8 A whole day to explore York, the day is free for you to do as you please!

Day 9 Head south to Newark-on-Trent which stands on the River Trent and has one of the finest Georgian market squares in England. It’s also home to Newark Castle & Gardens, which you’ll have ample time to explore. Continue south to Cambridge, a University city with colleges, chapels, churches and courtyards to discover. You can even enjoy an iconic punt down the River Cam, and view the stunning University buildings from the river. You'll then return to central London.
