Full description
Start the tour at 10:00 AM in Commercial Square, by the Tagus River. Listen to a brief introduction to Lisbon and its history. From the Baixa, head to the Mouraria neighborhood and make your way to one of the best viewpoints from where you can see Lisbon's imposing S. Jorge Castle and the majestic Tagus River. Admire awesome views of the old city centre, with its narrow streets and terracota roof tiles.

Continue on to explore the hidden backstreets of Mouraria, passing old churches, convents, and small squares. Be amazed by the variety of hole-in-the-wall shops, restaurants, and cafés, which sell food, drinks, and goods from many different countries and cultures. Next, visit a 13th-century building that houses one of Lisbon’s most important sets of 17th-century tiles which depicts scenes from the Old and New Testaments. Take a short break to enjoy a cup of strong Portuguese coffee and typical local pastries in one of the neighborhood's small family-owned cafes.

Leave the Mouraria neighborhood and return to Baixa. Stop for a tasting of port, cheese, and jam in a beautiful traditional shop, then head to the Bairro Alto (upper quarter). Hear about how by night, this neighborhood becomes the heart of the city's night life. See how during the day it is a quiet and charming residential quarter, with some fabulous views over the city and the Tagus. After one more stop for a typical Lisbon savoury snack and a beer, make your way to the Bica neighbourhood. As you explore, discover more fantastic views, and see the famous Bica funicular, one of Lisbon's most unique means of public transportation.

End the tour down by the Tagus, in the Cais do Sodré quarter, where you will pass a beautiful square and see the famous Pink Street. Visit an old market building that now doubles as a fantastic food court, home to some of the best restaurants in Lisbon. This spot is a great place to end the tour and maybe even stay to find a great lunch.
