Full description
Depart Kiev and journey to Chernobyl, now famous as the site of the nuclear disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986. Benefit from pre-arranged permits to enter the Chernobyl Exclusion Zones.
See the impact of the disaster on the now almost-abandoned city, and learn how the residents were evacuated in the aftermath of the tragedy. Pass the deserted village of Zalecie and look at the memorial to the first victims of the explosion. Discover the large concrete sarcophagus that was erected over reactor number 4.
Go to the impressive Cold War defense antenna of Duga 1, also known as the "Russian Woodpecker." Walk the streets of the ghost town of Pripyat and see a desolate swimming pool and playground. Look at the ghost-like amusement park and its Ferris wheel that no child ever had the chance to ride. Pause to reflect at an abandoned school and hotel before leaving the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
Pass a special security control to check the radiation levels before you journey back to Kiev for an evening drop off in in the city center.

- This tour must be booked at least 10 days in advance. This time is needed to obtain all of the necessary Chernobyl Exclusion Zone permits. Bookings made less than 10 days in advance are unlikely to be confirmed
- You’ll need to provide your passport details, date of birth and nationality to complete the booking
- This tour is only available for those aged 18 and over
- You must bring a valid passport on the day of the tour to pass security control and enter the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone
