What people are saying about Kalabaka
Our guide, Vasily (sorry, don’t know how to spell it), arrived on time and was very cheerful. His English was very good and he was very knowledgeable about Meteora and the history of the region. He gave good advice about the monasteries. I only wish he was able to escort us into the actual monasteries. But, again, he knew everything possible about the sites so it was not really necessary. Also both the guide and the driver helped us take pictures. As to the driver, I felt he was a good driver and considering the traffic there, it can’t be easy
We had a fabulous time. Everything was perfect and Martina, our guide, was full of knowledge. The hotel was great (we went first class), although at first we had a twin instead of a double. We were able to arrange a swap with the hotel. The only thing we’d change would be to have a toilet on the bus and to stop at a different lunch place coming home (food was very ordinary, high pressure selling and really only main course meals - all we wanted was a sandwich or roll. Other than that - fabulous!
The trip on day of arrival was an amazing experience. The sunset and everything. Evelyn and Kostas were both great as guide and drivers. I would suggest that you think of something like taking people to the countryside instead of 2nddays to monestries and the 3rd day of just hanging around doing nothing while waiting till its time for the train to leave.... The second visit to monestries could rather be worked in on 3rd day while you show the people the forests and stuff on 2nd day.
Better clarification with train ticket. We went to booth to redeem train ticket and he couldn't help us but wouldn't guide us neither. We almost purchase new ticket and someone help us and informed us that once in the train it will be redeem. I think that is important information and clients need to know they could by pass ticket booth and go straight to train.
They picked us up at our hotel in a very comfortable bus. The guide was very informative and explained the history and easy to understand. The tour covered many sights and we had many opportunities to step out of the bus and take pictures. The views were spectacular. The sunset was a great way to conclude the tour.
