What people are saying about Jesuit College of Funchal
Tour is highly recommended to get that local knowledge and insight into the place that you'd just be unaware of if wandering around on your own. History Tellers is a great outfit largely staffed - as I understand it - by short-term placement people from many countries. Our guide was Polish but dealt perfectly with us Brits and was a very pleasant young woman; thank you, Elvira. I'd encourage all visitors to Funchal to consider using this extremely competitively priced organisation - you may be lucky as we were to try some local liquers and poncha after the tour as well!
A gréât way to learn all about Madeira's history while exploring the old town. Lots of things pointed out which you would miss on your own and would not find in a guidebook. Small group - we were on our own! - with a friendly, extremely knowledgeable young guide who was also good fun.
Highly recommended. The guide was very knowledgeable and made the guided walk very interesting. I was sorry when it finished. There is a possibility to buy a beautiful book with the history of Funchal, a Fado CG and postcards that can be posted to your home country free of charge!
We really enjoyed our walking tour, however their was very little reference to the wine and sugar trade within Madeira in the past. We were also very disappointed not to be able to visit the Jesuit community.
Carlos was great at explaining what was, in my opinion, a set of very interesting curiosities about Funchal and this area we explored in particular. Tour worth doing! Was very nice way to spend 2 hours.
