our local guide (Isra) was fantastic. we feel very lucky to have net Isra who's knowledge of ancient Egypt is at the Museum standard. which is not surprising how she has a lengthy Cairo Museum employment studying her fav subject. she showed us things at the Pyramids never mentioned in any TV documentary. it really was a 5 star service. We where even collected by car from the Hilton hotel, because when we got off the bus from Hurghada, we got a bit lost. Isra and her driver told us to stay at the Hilton and they came straight there and collected us. Cairo is a mad place to drive and tbh I couldn't do it, but we felt very safe with our very experienced driver who also looked after our valuables when we left the vehicle. He also knew a great place for lunch. Isra and the driver work brilliantly together and we can not thank them enough for looking after us all day, and it really was a full, packed day. 5 star guide, driver, excursions. Highly recommend. Thank You Isra and Driver.
We really enjoyed our trip to Luxor and to see another side of Egypt. The 4 hour drive was really comfortable and we could sleep during the drive. Which was much needed after getting up at 5. In Luxor we picked up the guide, who first took us to valley of the kings, where he showed us the interesting tombs. After that we went to a workshop, where they made traditional sculptures. You could buy some, but it is quite pricey, so make sure to bargain. Then we went to the Hatshepsut temple and the Karnak temple, which were both really impressive as well. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us not only about the temples, but also about Egyptian culture and traditions. Before heading back to Hurghada, he took us for lunch in a nice restaurant overlooking Luxor temple. It was a long day with a 4 hour drive each way, but it was worth it and very recommendable.
It was a very long day, distance in a small bus was not very comfortable. The drivers were not communicating with us to let us know what was happening but at the end made sure to tell us they expected a tip. The guide was very knowledgeable and after first 20 minutes warned to him. I personally think if he would have said at first he wanted to teach and then we can take pitures instead if being annoyed that we were taking pictures straight away things would have gotten off on better start. All together guide gets great marks as he kept us informed and also knew sooo much. Be aware everywhere you go people want to sell something or money so day gets very long. Food founch was good And one tip buy excursion with tickets no place takes card maschine
Good drivers, the guide was also very open and provided useful information. The mini bus is in a very good condition and was very clean. Even the capacity for was about 15, we were only 6 tourists. Booked the trip one day before. Communication with the travel agent was as well very good. The total value of the additional entries was 580 egipt pounds(Karnak, Valley of the kings and hatshepsut). Is better to have local money and not usd or eur, as they adjust the rate in their favor.
One of my best decisions was to take this trip to explore the city within one day. In spite of a very tiring bus tour (which was the only low point) I met the most amazing guide ever who I could explore Cairo with, and enjoy the sunshine and the rainy hours (unfortunately this is my usual luck) at the same time. Thanks Maged for this amazing experience!
