What people are saying about Elephant Rock
I did a tour around the west coast of the US, but we only made photo stops when visiting other canyons. So I wanted to actually walk around and climb in the beautiful landscape. That's why I booked this tour from Las Vegas and I wasn't disappointed. We had great fun doing the tour and I would definitely recommend it. We chose the most difficult tour - even though I never climbed before - and it was a challenge. I could manage it but aching muscles and bruises included if you're clumsy like me. Fell down three times but the others in the group did very well. So just me. Great experience and something I wouldn't want to miss. Valley of Fire is beautiful.
Signed up for a morning hike to the Valley of Fire with Love Hikes. Traveling solo, I learned that the group that signed up to do the hike with me had cancelled. Very surprised – and so glad – that Love Hikes didn't cancel my reservation. Yvette, my guide, picked me up from the strip for a 45-minute trip to the Valley of Fire, where we made 3 stops: Mouse's Tank, White Domes and the Fire Wave. The hike is highly personalized to the guest's desired level of difficulty. Weather should definitely be a consideration – dress appropriately! I visited in January and it was below freezing when we left in the morning: my gloves and cap were life savers!
The things that made the Love Hikes afternoon in the Valley of Fire memorable was Chad, the guide. On his days off, he goes out alone in the site and seeks out interesting and challenging climbs, formations and vistas. This isn't a bus trip with a canned spiel. Small, intimate groups (in our case, it was just my wife and I), and challenging routes We took the "challenging" (middle of the three alternatives) and found it was exactly that. When I compare that trip to the bus trip to Red Rocks, which we did the following day, Chad and the time in Valley of Fire was not only interesting but memorable.
I was the only one to sign up for the early-in-the-morning intense tour and the company was still very accommodating because I could not switch to a different tour. The hike was tailored to what I wanted to do/see and we packed a lot of great sights in. My tour guide, Antonio, was very knowledgable and funny and could answer any questions I had about wildlife, plants, etc. I would highly recommend this tour!
John was an incredible guide and extremely knowledgable! We had a nice small group on the intense hike which enabled us to do some good scrambling. The views were fantastic across the valley and despite being an extremely hot day we stayed relativley cool during the hike in the shade of the rock walls. Thank you for an unforgettable experience, we will reccomend it to everyone!
