What people are saying about Edinburgh

Excellent - tops the Edinburgh Dungeons with tangy historical flavour

A friend and I were working in Edinburgh over the weekend. Unlike myself, he isn't into crime, gruesome murders or history. I suggested the walking tour for our last night, having been so impressed with the Adam Lyall experience back in 2016. My friend was outstanded by the performance they gave us and I found it better than before. He also found the history interesting which was a bonus! The experience dates back to 1985, a role which has been passed down from student-to-student is still going strong. £10 per person isn't much for a walking tour in Edinburgh (including a book to take away), there are plenty in the city doing Harry Potter and other histories but none have as much entertainment value as this. It's both funny and scary in equal measure. Would strongly recommend if you're a tourist, sightseer or just looking for something different to the usual spiel. My aunt recommended this to me and now I'm making my recommendation to whoever's reading this.

Interesting experience, improved our knowledge of Edinburgh’s past

I was booked on an underground vaults tour yesterday at 12noon, thinking that I had booked an individual tour for 4 people at a cost of £40 which I thought would be good for the children, only to find that this was not the case. I have checked back on how I booked to see how we were confused. I booked through Getyourguide. Their website says “Special Offer Underground Vaults Tour for 4 People Language: English Total price £40 Enjoy the underground vaults tour at a special price, available for groups of 4.” It does not say that it will still be part of the usual tour so I took this to be a separate tour and thought that it was good value because my original enquiry was for 2 concessions and 2 children which came to £40. I understand from other agents in the Edinburgh tour guide industry that this is not the first time that there has been confusion so I would ask you to ensure that your pricing is unambiguous throughout the various agencies that you use.

Extremely informative and very interesting. Well worth the money

This tour was so interesting and given with such enthusiasm by the guide. I would recommend this to anybody visiting the castle the only problem was trying to retain the information given. My advise would be to do the tour early in the day to give you sufficient time to look around after it is complete. We did it at 13:30 and had to be away by 16:00 which meant we couldn't enjoy the museum etc. So will have to go back another time.

It was extremely interesting and great fun

I would highly recommend this tour, our guide was so friendly, introduced herself to every small group of people asking where they were from and if they were having a lovely holiday, which I thought was a lovely touch. Stephanie was a great story teller and made the whole tour fun and fascinating. We did the 8.30pm tour which added a little more atmosphere to it.

Entertaining and informative plus a good stretch of the legs.

The walk was highly entertaining and included some gruesome bits of history and encompassed both the old city and the new. Our guide was well informed and related the tales with enthusiasm.
