What people are saying about Edinburgh

Entertaining way to spend an hour in Edinburgh

This was a fascinating way to spend an hour whilst in Edinburgh and our guide, Tuesday was excellent, great with her audience and at telling us the history of this part of the city. I’m not sure why we had to meet by the bank/tourist information booth, because we then had to walk all the way down the Royal Mile and only stopped at one point so I felt we could have started there really. The vaults themselves are fascinating and spooky and my only gripe would be that after reading about them online, I expected to see more of them than we did; it’s just four ‘rooms’ on this tour and all lit with a couple of torches. I totally get that that adds to the eerie atmosphere but I personally would have preferred slightly better lighting and a bit more of the vaults so that I could take it all in. Just my opinion and I’d still recommend the tour to anyone wishing to see this part of the forgotten Edinburgh.

Informative and interesting history of Edinburgh's underground.

We felt that our meeting point opposite the Royal Bank of Scotland was very unnecessary as it was very difficult to follow in such a large group ( approx 30 people) the distance to the entrance of the vaults. There several other high profile meeting points closer to the entrance, for example The National Museum of Scotland. Our guide Sven got us to the entrance at 3.20pm which was 20 minutes after meeting time of 3pm. Whilst the tour was interest there was quite a bit of repetition.

Very interesting piece of history, but not scary.

Look, I did not expect McKenzie to come and dance for us like a little trained monkey...but having said that. This was not the least unsettling at all, and Greyfriars Kirkyard is really a quiet and cozy place on a late summer evening. As a historical tour however, this was easily worth 5 stars, in particular because of the guide, Charlie from Orkney, who is a gifted storyteller indeed. This has really sparked my interest for similar experiences. Maybe even in my own home town.

It was extremely interesting and great fun

I would highly recommend this tour, our guide was so friendly, introduced herself to every small group of people asking where they were from and if they were having a lovely holiday, which I thought was a lovely touch. Stephanie was a great story teller and made the whole tour fun and fascinating. We did the 8.30pm tour which added a little more atmosphere to it.

Entertaining, informative and fun. Don't miss this treat!

James looked the part and kept us all enthralled on this ghost tour. Time well spent, full of historical facts and stories about Edinburgh's murky past, whilst strolling around the city and discovering things /places you would normally just walk past. Great value for money.
