Full description
This guided whisky tour tells the story of Scotland’s most famous product. A highlight of these tours is the Diageo Claive Vidiz Scotch Whisky Collection, which is the world’s largest collection of Scotch whisky, encompassing almost 3,500 individual bottles.

This tour starts with the Whisky barrel car ride, which takes guests through the production and maturation process of Scotch whisky. This is followed by a sensory journey of Scotland including an introduction to Scotch whisky aromas.

Next, enjoy a tutored appreciation of Scotch whisky along with a viewing of the world’s largest collection of Scotch Whisky (guests under 18 years of age will be given Irn Bru, a Scottish soft drink). The gift of a crystal tasting glass is included with this tour.

If you select the gold tour option, after enjoying a full guided tour, you'll compare and contrast 4 regional single malts whilst relaxing in the beautiful McIntyre Gallery. Assisted by experienced guides, and provided with tasting notes, you'll be able to sip like a true connoisseur, and compare the regions to find your perfect dram.

  • Fully guided tour in English with audio guides available in 20 different languages
  • 1 whisky tasting or soft drink option
  • Gift of a crystal tasting glass for visitors over 18 years of age

It was informative and not sluggish and boring. First you drive like in a scary train with gondolas and get everything explained in the desired language, then the different regions and their flavors are explained, then it's time to try. You choose the whiskey according to the region, which you then taste. Then you can marvel at an insane whiskey collection, after which we got 4 more whiskeys to try.

Since you have to go, we had the silver tour, duration 50 minutes, booked. The tour is great, you drive at first with a whiskey barrel through the history and origin of whiskey. Then take a guide, it gives insights into the Scottish whiskey regions and you will be prepared for the tasting. So really great. I do not want to betray too much. The guides at the beginning and the guide for the tasting are young, competent and well informed. Class. However, one tastes only one whiskey at the Silver Tour, a second we would have liked to try.

Short but good

If you don't want to spend hours learning how to make whiskey, then this is the trip. We got a nice introduction to the production which lasted 10 minutes. This was done by sitting in a "whiskey barrel" which drove us through a track where we were led through the whiskey production. We were then explained via a big screen and a narrative guide, around the various whiskey districts that are in Scotland. Finally we got a taste of a whiskey, while we were in a very nice room, which was filled with floor-to-ceiling whiskey bottles on the walls. It was incredibly nice with all the different color bottles.
