What people are saying about Doge's Palace
At first, the audio was not too good. We also had to get used to the Italian accent in the English of our guide. Once we got used to the accent, and once the audio was improved, the guide was wonderful. The palace and the basilica are extremely beautiful, and definitely worth a visit. We had previously visited without a guide. The visit with the guide added to the experience tremendously. I would advise the city of Venice to limit the number of people who can visit at the same time. Both the palace and the basilica were too crowded. I would suggest doubling the entry price, and allowing half the number of people to enter. I am thinking of a system similar to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
These 2 attractions have long lines and cam be overwhelming. Having our English speaking guide made everything much easier and kept us entertained and informed when we did have to wait on the Groups Line for Doges Palace. We learnt things and saw things we would not have seen or known without the guide. Both buildings are glorious in their own way. Guide was very informative but also fun. Recommend this highly on sp many levels.
We got a late start due to late arriving group members and then waited 25-30 minutes in line (which our guide said was longer than usual.....but he put it to good use by giving us lots of information while we waited). Consequently our tour ended up being abbreviated and we had very little time in the Basilica.
For guided tour do if you want a long thorough history (this they do well) for me I can’t stand stationary for long periods of time >15-20min at a time which occurred for each room. I prefer moving and talking tours. They provide ear pieces which are great.
The dodges palace is a must. The Basilica of St. Marcus you still que for at least 30 minutes and some of our group members left without seeing the main icon attraction behind the curtain. The Basilica is beautiful inside.
