Full description
Pub Culture of Cologne – from the legendary “Lommi” to the rustic pubs of the “Südstadt”.

It’s a highlight for natives, newcomers, and guests alike to dine at the legendary "Lommi". There you can order a very popular “Päffgen-Kölsch”, and a whopping 600-gram cutlet with a side of fries or potato salad.

The southern quarters look back on an eventful pub history. In the late 70s and 80s, the area was known for its lively art scene, which left its impression on the people and pub culture and can still be seen even today. “The Südstadt was like a village within a village. Nobody wanted to move out, no one wanted to move to the other side of the River Rhine”. People said: “If the bridge collapses, I will never be able to return home.”

In the local pubs called “Veedelskneipen”, it is usual to drink a lot of Kölsch. The traditional, rustic pubs are a meeting place for both locals and visitors alike. Sing along to songs from the well-loved local band “Bläck Fööss”. Nowadays this band is a flagship for music from Cologne and their concerts periodically fill the Cologne arena. Their beginnings, however, can be found in the arty pubs of the Südstadt, which are often frequented by local celebrities.

On this funny and unique pub crawl, you will definitely have a certifiable Cologne experience. At the end of the tour, each guest receives a certificate with a short historical overview of the pub culture. Thus, you can review the interesting facts about Cologne’s pub culture and have a nice memento of the tour.
