This was probably the best value tour we took out of 11 over a recent Med cruise. Our guide (Andrea Gringana ?spelling) was enthusiastic, friendly and informative but not "in your face". Everything was included in the price - travel, coffee, lunch, entrance tickets. We decided that a switch-over day in Civitavecchia was probably not long enough to go to Rome for a sensible period of time so we stayed locally. We'd never heard of Tarquinia past or present but it's well worth a visit. The only thing to note is that the ancient Etruscan necropolis consists of rooms underground, each reached by a steep staircase and therefore this tour is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. The size of the port of Civitavecchia and the rules associated with it mean that the guide cannot meet you inside the port gates so you need to take the shuttle bus to the entrance and meet them at the drop-off point immediately outside.
Truly great experience. We had our own personal driver and guide for the entire day. No waiting in line, no trouble and we were able to see all the sights in great detail. We were on a cruise and for the little bit more expense we had this wonderful guide and driver and we were able to go inside the Vatican, Sistine chapel, St Peter's basilica and tour the Coliseum plus see the Pantheon and Trevi fountain. I would not hesitate to book this again. Everybody was very accommodating.
Absolutely wonderful day! Our guide, Andrea, was personable and tailored our full day private tour to our wishes. We were picked up on time directly from our hotel. No problems whatsoever during the entire trip. We were able to enjoy far more unique sites in central Italy than if we had attempted to do this on our own with a rental car.
Driver was on time. Van seemed brand new. Max was a very nice guy and a good driver. Traffic in Rome was crazy and it took away from spending a bit more time in all the attractions. Important: if you want to get inside the Vatican or the Colosseum this is not the tour for you.
Andrea was knowledgeable, friendly and a local so he knew all the best places to see. Pickup and drop off was easy. I know we would not have seen all the special places that he was able to see on our own. No question - book with Andrea!
