What's inside the Burj Al Arab?

Standing at 321 meters, Dubai's striking Burj Al Arab is one of the tallest hotels on the planet, but height alone doesn't earn a seven-star reputation! What's inside the world's most luxurious hotel that makes it so special?

Royal Suite

Royal Suite

At $19,000 a night, the Royal Suite is the hotel's most expensive room! The two-storey suite has a brigade of butlers on call, as well as countless amenities.

Al Mahara

Al Mahara

This hotel restaurant is accessed via a simulated submarine voyage. Inside is an aquarium so huge that the glass must be 18 centimeters thick to handle the pressure!

Helipad

Helipad

OK, so this one's technically on, not in, the Burj Al Arab. As optional extras go, however, arriving by helicopter is definitely one of the most extravagant!

Talise Spa

Talise Spa

Some hotel spas aren't much more than steam-proofed old storage closets. This one has a panoramic sauna 150 meters high, from which you can view the city through fog-proof glass!

Skyview Bar

Skyview Bar

The Skyview Bar offers world-class cocktails, live music, and a decor that goads close conversation. Oh yeah, and astonishing 200-meter-high views over the Gulf!

Our insider tips

How to get there?

The Burj Al Arab is located on an artificial island across a private bridge. The easiest and most affordable way to reach it is by taxi, but if you're feeling flash, call the hotel to book a Rolls Royce or helicopter pick-up!

How to get in?

Unfortunately, it's not as easy as just showing up at the hotel and gawking. You won't even make it to the lobby without proof of a reservation (if not a room, then at least a restaurant meal or the hotel's famous afternoon tea). Access is also granted as part of some guided tours.

How much is it a night?

Of course, not every room is as expensive as the Royal Suite, but even the cheapest rooms will cost you at least $1,800!

Good to know

  • When should I visit?
    24 hours a day
  • Is it expensive?
It's an astounding building from the outside, but it costs quite a bit to get in - best to check out the range of tours available.
  • Will I need a guide?
Not necessarily, but your visit needs to be booked in advance.
  • How to get there
The hotel sits on a little island off mainland Dubai. The nearest metro stop is Mall of the Emirates, then walk across the bridge. However, it is more direct to get a taxi.
  • Additional information

    • Dress nicely - this is one of the world's fanciest hotels. | You can only enter the Burj as a visitor (as opposed to a guest) if you have a reservation in a restaurant. There are a selection of packages offering this.

Amazing Half Day tour and don’t miss the Frame.

What a brilliant tour from start to finish. Riah was the perfect tour guide. Only 6 of us in our luxury air conditioned taxi. We stayed at the Atlantis Palm, then on to the Souk Medinat, we saw all the important sights and Riah was so knowledgable about the history too. On to a river taxi over to the gold and spice souks - what an experience. We saw the largest gold ring in the world! Then back to the Frame! Wow! A fabulous attraction. And then a look at the future 50 years of Dubai in the 360 cinema in the Frame. An outstanding trip. Great value. Not to be missed. Thank you Riah!

Excellent tour for a fair price and great guide!

I went with my family on this tour and it was far above our expectation! We saw much more than expected and received useful information from our guide, Sam. He was super well prepared and made a great mood throughout the tour. He showed us the best photo shooting spots and was very helpful. I can only recommend this tour, as you get a great knowhow and a lot of experience of Dubai. Thank you guys, excellent tour!

A great tour, with a fantastisk guide Sam

A really good trip, with many good experiences. Our guide Sam was very attentive to everything about the well and often came with water, so he was sure everyone had enough to drink in the hot sun. Sam knew all the good places to take pictures. Sam took pictures for all of us, so the whole family came along.

The tour was amazing and exactly as informed

Our tour guide Saad Osman (SAM) was really informative and took care of us through out the tour. Loved it! One suggestion however is the splitting of groups for shuttle to and from hotel. It is a bit of hassle. Would recommend one vehicle picking everyone and then proceeding for the tour.

An excellent way to get introduced to Dubai!

The tour was professional and smooth. Riah was an excellent guide. The fresh water was appreciated. Great way to discover Dubai, where distances are great and the heat is brutal. I appreciated being dropped at Dubai Mall, from where I took the hotels' free shuttle back to my hotel.
